My first mystery
I cannot see anything. I can feel only soft damp grass through the fingers. It is so foggy, everywhere continuous fog. Where am I? A breath of cool - I shuddered. The sound of music attracted me. The nearer I approached, the more ground slipped under my feet. I could not believe my eyes.
The fog cleared in an instant and there I saw a great plain with fragrant flowers. Languages of the fire danced a wild rhythm of music. Giants awkwardly danced and stumbled over theirs feet sometimes. Their laughter turned to thunder and the lightning completed the picture.
However, everything froze suddenly. The music stopped, the clouds dispersed and the giants stopped his ritual for some reason. What have they done? These giants got turned into huge rocks and stones as if nothing had happened.
Because of the stones, came King Arthur and Merlin, arguing about something.
And above them all relentlessly circled the devil and furiously whispered "Stonehenge, Stonehenge", but gradually they began to disappear.
I quietly slipped out of this world, clinging to the fingertips of mist. The piercing sound made me open my eyes - an alarm clock. "Oh, it was a dream, my lovely dream." My alarm destroyed this fantastic illusion or maybe not. I was determined.
At the end of the day, things were packed and on the table lay a plane ticket from San Francisco to London.
- Stonehenge is a megalithic monument on the Salisbury Plain in Southern England, composed mainly of thirty upright stones (sarsens, the largest weighs as much as 50 tons.), Aligned in a circle. It was mainly constructed between 2500 BC and 2000 BC-, without respite guide gave the facts.
I decided to keep up with the group and looked around. Approaching the memorial where stones of wonderful size have been erected after the manner of doorways, as if they invited me into their magical world. I examine a monument, it was like a "snake's temple" or "Dragonity". It is inspired by a light horror, and I decided to go back to the group of tourists.
- I know that Stonehenge is so mysterious, no one knows its builders, or how exactly it was built.
This must generated many legends, mustn't it?
And the guide revived and began to tell the legend of all time associated with this place.
- Theories have ranged from Stonehenge being a clock, to a calendar, even a sacrificial altar.
People were closely watching for a guide, then for Stonehenge, reviving myths. I plunged with delight into the past.
- The legend of King Arthur provides another story of the construction of Stonehenge. Merlin brought the stones to the Salisbury Plain from Ireland after a massacre of 300 British noblemen by the treacherous Saxon leader, Hengest.
And many believe that The Devil bought the stones from a woman in Ireland, wrapped them up, and brought them to Salisbury plain. One of the stones fell into the Avon, the rest were carried to the plain. The Devil then cried out, "No-one will ever find out how these stones came here." A friar replied, "That's what you think!" whereupon the Devil threw one of the stones at him and struck him on the heel. The stone stuck in the ground and is still there.
Modern day interpretations are no less colorful: some argue that Stonehenge is a spacecraft landing area for aliens.
Another legend says that the stones were once ancient dancing giants who were petrified when they were caught in a beam of sunlight. It is just possible to imagine them as giants holding hands, and the monument was indeed known in the folklore of the past as the Giant's Ring.
My dream came to life, each story became more and more exciting for me. The heart is accelerated, but in the same time froze in anticipation.
When approaching the end of history, it began to rain. Lightning gave more mystery to this place, but I was forced to return to the hotel.
My first trip was my secret or better to say mystery, which can not discern even the scientists. It's my own ruinous myth.
