 I just want to

     live

I am going to explore our country’s largest, uncontrolled, expanding epidemic that we face today and that is teen age pregnancy.
Did you know that?
  • 3 in 10 teen girls in the US will get pregnant at least once before age 20? That's about 745,000 teen pregnancies each year.
  • Less than half of teen mothers ever graduate from high school and fewer than 2% earn a college degree by age 30.
  • Children of teen mothers do worse in school than those born to older parents—they are 50% more likely to repeat a grade, are less likely to complete high school than the children of older mothers, and have lower performance on standardized tests.
  • More than half of all mothers on welfare had their first child as a teenager. In fact, two-thirds of families begun by a young, unmarried mother are poor.
  • Children who live apart from their fathers are 5 times more likely to be poor than children with both parents at home.
  • The daughters of young teen mothers are 3 times more likely to become teen mothers themselves.
  • The sons of teen mothers are twice as likely to end up in prison.
Hard to believe that at such young age you are ready to be an adult, even though your childhood is only starting. You are trying to become an adult, every day, trying to prove it to your parents and friends. However, the time comes when you face problems and you comeback asking for help.

Growing up we hear sad stories about teenagers: wasting their lives on drugs and alcohol. The number of abortions is rising each year. Most of us promised to each other to take another road and not repeat the same mistakes. However, most of do repeat them.

They follow foot steps of their friend. Most of us make that mistake because they simply are trying to fit in. But, a moment later and it's too late. Seeing pregnant teens became a normality. Every time when i see a teen at the pharmacy buying pregnancy test it makes me feel sad and helpless. The reason for the sadness is that at that young age teens should think about school and going to college. The career should be number one priority in their lives.
Teenage pregnancy is usually a crisis for the pregnant girl and her family. Common reactions include anger, guilt, and denial. Pregnant teens can have many different emotional reactions:
  • some may not want their babies
  • some may want them for idealized and unrealistic ways
  • others may view the creation of a child as an achievement and not recognize the serious responsibilities
  • some may keep a child to please another family member
  • some may want a baby to have someone to love, but not recognize the amount of care the baby needs
  • depression is also common among pregnant teens
Often, anxiety over Mom and Dad’s reaction is reason a girl may hide the fact that she is pregnant. But sometimes, young women can be in terrible denial, simply refusing to accept the reality of their condition. Psychologists call this dissociation. Since today’s baggy fashions make it easier for a girl to go for months, or perhaps through her entire pregnancy, without anyone noticing her expanding abdomen.
But this fact only makes it clear that all of us need support.
The step was taking and most of time there is no way back from it. Teens become what they always urged to be "an Adult". With unwanted birth, there will be an unwanted child. The child will follow the foot steps of their parents, friends, and it continue.

                                                                                       Abortion

Although, there is another way. Nowadays more and more teens are getting pregnant and having abortions, secretly and easily. Kids are obviously taking this abortion opportunity for granted and not understanding the seriousness of sex and parents have the right to know and guide their children. Regardless, these kids deserve the support they need and their parents should be there to give it to them.
But you can avoid all this problems. The best method - NO SEX:
  • Delay Sex: Not having sex at all is the only 100% effective method of preventing pregnancy and STIs.
  • Think about this: if you're having sex and not using any kind of birth control, you're actually planning on getting pregnant. It’s as simple as that.
  • When it comes to not getting pregnant or causing a pregnancy, the next best thing to no sex is protected sex. For example, did you know that a couple who has sex without using condoms or any other kind of contraception (birth control) has an 85% chance of getting pregnant within a year?
And here some truly live stories…

Live Stories
  • Hello, my name is Cindy.
My ex-sister in law got pregnant at 18 too, but she was tricked into
giving the baby to social services, then she started hanging out with this drug
addict black guy, who raped and murdered her.

  • Hello, my name is Carol, 15 years old.
I had a baby when I was 15. The father of my baby left me (don't know why).
But after some time I got with another guy and had another baby and I’m now
happily married.

  • Hello, my name is Ricky, 16 years old.
I gave my first baby up (open adoption) but now I have 1 kid with my husband.
I get visit with my first son. My family seems happy.

  • Hi, my name is Jenny.
My sister had an abortion at 16 because she "had too many party years left".
She dropped out of school anyway, was arrested for trying to rob a liquor store, served 3 years in prison and now lives with a friend. She can't hold a job. She only calls me when she wants money.

Most important thing to remember is that every single of us has a choice in this life. Make right decision and be responsible with your life so that one day your kids will not have to pay for your mistakes.

Aposles of Hatred Find It Easy Find to Spread Their Message

                                                             http://www.nazi.org/

1. On what issue is Pitts taking a position, and what is his view? In what ways is the topic controversial (or not), and how might this affect the ways in which various readers might respond to the piece?

In paragraph 4 he is taking a position: "In all, I spent half an hour on nazi.org. It gave me a headache." The last sentence makes me clear about the position of the writer. Pitt explains that websites, T-shirts and other things with this kind of advertisement makes people think in wrong way.
I support his topic and his ideas. He convinces me to believe him and I ready take his position as mine.

2. In paragraph two, Pitts states that he "learned" a number of things from website. What do you think he means by his use of the word "learned", and why?

Pitt just was interested in things that he never read before. He read about this group and its ideas about society.

3. Writers are often encouraged to explore multiple views of an issue before taking a position. Why doesn't Pitts offer a detailed explanation about why he finds the nazi.org website "abhorrent"? What do you think about his choice?

Before Pitts called the nazi.org "abhorrent", he gives us so understandable example that explains his words. This examples showed another and, as for me, bigger and terrible side of this website. His choice is individual and I agree with it.

4. Where does Pitts quote from website in question, and why?

It's in paragraph 15. He clearly and strongly proves his position and condemns the ideology of group and people who want to become part of it.

ch 20 Proposing a Solution

Proposals are prescription for change. As such, they challenge readers to care about broblem, accept a solution, and act on it. A strong proposal offers a logical, practical, and creative argument that leads toward positive change, whether it's defending against terrorism, requiring both men and women to register for the military draft, or adding to the debate on cloning.

ch 19 Persuading Readers to Act

Persuasion is a challenging task, requiring that you convince readers to believe you, rethink their own perspectives, and take a concrete step. In the end, you want them to change their minds and their actions.
In an essay persuading readers to act, you seek to change readers' opinion on a debatable, complex, and timely issue about which you care deeply, such as wise energy policies or the problem of racism.

PERSUASIVE WRITING

"Convince me!" is the reader's cry that lies behind all persuasive writing. Whether you are taking a position on an issue, persuading readers to take action, or proposing a solution to a vexing problem, you are arguing a point in order to persuade readers to accept your claims, with the result that change their own thinking and perhaps even their behavior and actions. In other words, even though each of these forms has a distinctive rhetorical emphasis, all three on foundational strategies for argumentation and persuasion: from making and supporting claims effectively to avoiding logical fallacies.

ch 18 Taking a Position

Writing a position paper gives you the opportunity to take a stand. It's a chance, in other words, to refine what you think and feel, to clarify and deepen your perspective on an issue that you find meaningful.

ch 17 Strategies for Argumentation and Persuasion

Your goal as a persuasive writer is to reason effectively with your reader's or listeners and to motivate them to believe, change, or act.
This chapter is a resource on reasoning. It explains the foundation of argumentation and persuasion and introduces three related forms - taking a position, persuading readers to act, and proposing a solution.

ch 16 Definition

Whether you're writing a persuasive essay, lab report, or a project proposal, defining key terms helps you distinguish the boundaries of your subject. When you write an extended definition, study this chapter, which will guide you through every step in the writing process - from choosing the term to refining the definition.

No age limit

The youth, opens new doors. We try various things, without even realizing the consequences. The very first and the strongest cocktail, which makes our head go round, , forces our heart to bit as if it never existed before, and that first drink will make you happy at first but will bring tragedy in the future.. It's not simply an alcoholic drink, which action stops through couple of hours; it will be in your blood all your life, damaging your brain each time more strongly. You become dependent on it, even the group of AA meetings cannot help you. Components are simple: adrenaline, dopamine, fenylethylamine, endorphin and oxytocin. What is it? The Cocktail of love … or just the recipe for it.

Dopamine

Did you know that when you’re in love, dopamine gives you the same feeling as when you would use cocaine? Every time you see your love, you get a shot of dopamine and it’s addictive. Everyone who has been in love knows they wanted to see the one they were in love with again and again and again.

But when you’re in a relationship for a longer period, let’s say about two years; your body doesn’t produce that much dopamine anymore.

Fenylethylamine

Fenylethylamine is produced in your brain. It has the same effect as speed. Your heartbeat is increasing, you start to breath faster, and the palms of your hands start to sweat, your cheeks get an extra blood flow and you start to feel happier. The pupils of your eyes get bigger. But only when you see something you like.

Endorphin

Endorphin is the morphine that your own body produces when you feel pain. When you’re in love it has the same effects as heroine and opium which cause you to feel more happy and joyful.

Eating fat, chocolate and sugars make you produce more endorphin.

Vasopressin

Vasopressin (also called anti-diuretic hormone) works with your kidneys to control thirst. It have big role in long-term relationships.

Oxytocinis

Oxytocinis also called the mother hormone or cuddle hormone because when a mom breastfeeds her baby, this hormone is produced in large quantities. When you hug or caress this hormone is produced too. It makes you feel connected, takes away fear and makes you feel confident.

Not only has the chemistry interfered here ... something else. No amount of science can erase the wonderful feelings of being in love.
“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, and it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, and always perseveres.” (Corinthians 13:4-7)

The legacy of Generation N

1. In on sentence, summarize the cause and effect of changes described in this essay.
Yes, it is. The author makes a historical reference, indicates the chronology, and then cites examples of our time; shows the effect and result on these events.

2. Writers must make their claims using words that convey an appropriate level of certainty. Is Hauberggers’ use of “will” (versus “may”) appropriate in paragraphs seven and eight? Why?
The author shows the facts and the evidence, using the future tense for effect; Also uses a comparison between the well-known facts that to achieve maximum effect.

3. The last paragraph emphasizes the writer main point. What is her point, and do you agree? Why?
The author cites examples of successful people, emphasizes her main idea. The conclusion doesn’t finish; it’s provides a reader’s space for thinking.
Yes, I agree with this point of view - we have a conventional law despite the nationality, native country, or our past.

4. The writer published this essay in 1999. Cite examples showing that the changes she described are continuing.
I live in an area where a large number of Latino-Americans, I can say that the past push on people may be they cannot realize this, but it’s true.

My first mystery

I cannot see anything. I can feel only soft damp grass through the fingers. It is so foggy, everywhere continuous fog. Where am I? A breath of cool - I shuddered. The sound of music attracted me. The nearer I approached, the more ground slipped under my feet. I could not believe my eyes.
The fog cleared in an instant and there I saw a great plain with fragrant flowers. Languages of the fire danced a wild rhythm of music. Giants awkwardly danced and stumbled over theirs feet sometimes. Their laughter turned to thunder and the lightning completed the picture.
However, everything froze suddenly. The music stopped, the clouds dispersed and the giants stopped his ritual for some reason. What have they done? These giants got turned into huge rocks and stones as if nothing had happened.
Because of the stones, came King Arthur and Merlin, arguing about something.
And above them all relentlessly circled the devil and furiously whispered "Stonehenge, Stonehenge", but gradually they began to disappear.
I quietly slipped out of this world, clinging to the fingertips of mist. The piercing sound made me open my eyes - an alarm clock. "Oh, it was a dream, my lovely dream." My alarm destroyed this fantastic illusion or maybe not. I was determined.
At the end of the day, things were packed and on the table lay a plane ticket from San Francisco to London.
 - Stonehenge is a megalithic monument on the Salisbury Plain in Southern England, composed mainly of thirty upright stones (sarsens, the largest weighs as much as 50 tons.), Aligned in a circle. It was mainly constructed between 2500 BC and 2000 BC-, without respite guide gave the facts.

I decided to keep up with the group and looked around. Approaching the memorial where stones of wonderful size have been erected after the manner of doorways, as if they invited me into their magical world. I examine a monument, it was like a "snake's temple" or "Dragonity". It is inspired by a light horror, and I decided to go back to the group of tourists.
 - I know that Stonehenge is so mysterious, no one knows its builders, or how exactly it was built.
This must generated many legends, mustn't it?
And the guide revived and began to tell the legend of all time associated with this place.
 - Theories have ranged from Stonehenge being a clock, to a calendar, even a sacrificial altar.
People were closely watching for a guide, then for Stonehenge, reviving myths. I plunged with delight into the past.

- The legend of King Arthur provides another story of the construction of Stonehenge. Merlin brought the stones to the Salisbury Plain from Ireland after a massacre of 300 British noblemen by the treacherous Saxon leader, Hengest.

And many believe that The Devil bought the stones from a woman in Ireland, wrapped them up, and brought them to Salisbury plain. One of the stones fell into the Avon, the rest were carried to the plain. The Devil then cried out, "No-one will ever find out how these stones came here." A friar replied, "That's what you think!" whereupon the Devil threw one of the stones at him and struck him on the heel. The stone stuck in the ground and is still there.
Modern day interpretations are no less colorful: some argue that Stonehenge is a spacecraft landing area for aliens.
Another legend says that the stones were once ancient dancing giants who were petrified when they were caught in a beam of sunlight. It is just possible to imagine them as giants holding hands, and the monument was indeed known in the folklore of the past as the Giant's Ring.

My dream came to life, each story became more and more exciting for me. The heart is accelerated, but in the same time froze in anticipation.
When approaching the end of history, it began to rain. Lightning gave more mystery to this place, but I was forced to return to the hotel.

My first trip was my secret or better to say mystery, which can not discern even the scientists. It's my own ruinous myth.

ch.11 DESCRIPTION AND REFLECTION.

A personal reflection is often written to draw wisdom from past experiences. In the process, you will likely gain insight not only your past experience, but also into its links to your present and future.

ch.10 NARRATION AND DESCRIPTION.

At with all forms of writing, you should develop your personal essays using whateverstrategies fit your writing situation: your subject, audience, and purpose. A personal narrative is a story - a story that mirrors you and experiences. In it, you may tell about a time when you were afraid, lost something, found joy, learned a tough lesson, or discovered some secret.

ch.9 FORMS OF COLLEGE WRITING

You have to learn course content and to learn how to carry on a written dialogue with others in your field. The chapter presents more specific information about academic depertments, including the topics student study, the forms of writing teachers assign, and the traits of those forms.

ch.8 WRITING PROCESS

An essay is an attempt to understand a topic more deeply and clearly. The best advice is take matters one step at the a time, from understanding the assignment to submitting the final draft.

ch.7 Submitting writing and creating portfolios

Submitting a final paper is the driving force behind writing. Often, the most immediate and important form of submitting is sharing a finished piece of writing with your instructor and writing peers.

ch.6 Editing and proofreading.

These comes a point in any writing project when you must prepare your writing for submission. At that time you must edit and proofread your revised writing so that it speaks clearly and accurately. When you edit, look first for words, phrases, and sentences that sound awkward, uninteresting, or unclear. When you proofread, chek your writing for spelling, mechanics, usage, and grammar errors.

ch.5 REVISING

Revising takes courage. Good writing almost always requires revising and, in some cases, subtantial, rework. During this step in the writing process, you make changes in the content of your firs draft until it says exactly what you mean.

ch.4 Drafting

The first draft is not the one that will distinguish you as a writer. It's a way of getting material together, starting out, connecting your ideas. A first draft gives you something to work with - verbal wet clay - that will later, through revising and editing, result in a polished piece of writing.

ch.3 Planning

Planning of almost any type requires careful thinking. You have to establish a thesis or focus for your writing, and organize the supporting information. You will need to indentify the method of development - comparison, cause/effect, classification - the best supports your thesis, and then organize your details accordingly.

ch.2 Writing process

You encourage to think and figure things out for yourself. Once you understand the writing process - from forming a clear sense of the assignment to submitting the final draft - you will be able ti produce essays and papers that reflect your best thinking.

ch.1 CRITICAL THINKING

When you think critically, you examine ideas fully and logically, weigh multiple perspectives on issues, and draw reasonable conclusions. In the process, you carry on an in-depth dialogue with information and evidence. And your training in critical thinking prepares you for work in your profession and in the public square. Thoughtful reading and viewing, then, lie at the heart of critical thinking and feed into thoughtful writing.
